A metaverse is a virtual reality, three-dimensional, browser-based world and Decentraland is one of the most popular metaverses in operation at the moment.
Decentraland is hosting the first ever Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFV).
The digital event will showcase a wide variety of new collections from top fashion brands on its digital platform.
The virtual reality fashion show will still showcase new designs from established and up-and-coming brands, but this time in the digital sphere.
The four-day event will include a range of runway fashion shows, pop up shops and afterparties for those attending virutally.
A new feature has been added to the Decentraland marketplace for the Fashion Week event, shoppers can now virtually try on clothes before making a purchase.
MVFW will also include a virtual fashion district area where brands can sell digital and physical designs through non-fungible tokens (NFTs.)
The inaugural Metaverse Fashion Week is running on the Decentraland metaverse platform from Thursday, March 24, 2022 until Saturday, March 27, 2022.
Around fifty brands are involved with MVFW.
Selfridges are opening the Metaverse Fashion Week though an immersive experience with Paco Robanne.
Etro, Tommy Hilfiger, Dolce and Gabbana and Guo Pei are also providing “sensorial experiences.”
Other big names in the fashion industry such as Roberto Cavalli, Nicholas Kirkwood and Imitation of Christ are also involved in the virtual show.
The MVFW is free to watch if you have a Decentraland account.
It’s free to set up an account on Decentraland but Ethereum, a type of cryptocurrency, is needed to buy anything.
The Decentraland software runs on Ethereum blockchain and therefore a Ethereum wallet is required to make any purchases.
