And it’s quite possible his pre-match antics had a helping hand.

Ronaldo was spotted making contact with every one of his team-mates in the tunnel.

Starting with skipper Harry Maguire at the front of the line, Ronaldo then made his way down the starting XI.

He could be seen touching his team-mates on their shoulders or chest while also offering words of encouragement prior to kick-off.

Supporters were loving it, as one user tweeted: “It’s actually criminal that he isn’t captain looool.”

Another commented: “Ronaldo being captain without actually being captain, Maguire is a fraud.”

A third added: “Just give this man the armband ffs, the only positives from this season have come from Ronnie.”

This fan then remarked: “Give him the armband. Not even talking to the club, I’m talking to Maguire…. Just give it him.”

Meanwhile one stated: “Little things like that is why he should be captain.”

One then posted: “Leadership doesn’t always need a captain band.”

Another simply said: “Oh Captain, My Captain….”

Ronaldo’s hat-trick against Norwich was his second treble from his last three Premier League games as he brought up 21 goals for the season.

His dazzling display against the Canaries saw him bank a cool £850,000.

When Ronaldo returned to United in the summer, a set of incentives were included in the deal.

Ronaldo‘s heroics saw him bank two of those — the first a £750k bonus for reaching 20 goals and then another £100k for his hat-trick strike.

Having reached his initial goals target, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner will continue to bank an extra £100k, like yesterday, for every additional time he finds the back of the net.
