MANCHESTER UNITED reportedly changed their minds about appointing Mauricio Pochettino as new manager after witnessing his Champions League failure with Paris Saint-Germain.
Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag has recently emerged as the new favourite to land the Man United job.

Bookmakers Betfair have placed the Dutchman at 1/3 odds – ahead of all rivals – to clinch the Red Devils manager role this summer.
The 52-year-old was previously available at 3/1 but his odds were slashed to 1/3 – ensuring that he usurped former leader Poch in the process.
And the moment the pendulum swung in Ten Hag’s favour was when Pochettino’s PSG side crashed out of the Champions League to Real Madrid, the Express reported.
PSG’s 3-2 aggregate loss to Los Blancos in the last 16 round, caused United’s hierarchy to lose faith in Poch’s ability to turn the club into a major European force once again.
The Argentine was unable to lead his troops past Real despite having the likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar – who were blamed for the Ligue 1 side’s defeat – at his disposal.
And that’s said to be a cause for concern for the United board.
And following extensive research into all candidates, it’s been claimed that United’s new CEO Richard Arnold has decided that Ten Hag is the right man for the job – although the club’s players reportedly still want Poch to lead them.
But United will have to be swift in their attempt to poach Ten Hag from Ajax as they aren’t the only side hot on his heels.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, TWO more sides are concocting a plot to lure Ten Hag.
The two clubs remain unnamed, with Romano giving no indication as to who they might be.
And United will also be hoping Ten Hag doesn’t take the advice of former boss and Dutch compatriot Louis Van Gaal who has urged his fellow countryman not to take the Old Trafford job.
In Van Gaal’s eyes, United are more interested in business than football, which wouldn’t be good for Ten Hag’s career.
Van Gaal said: “I think Ten Hag is great coach.
“A great coach is good for Man Utd. But they are a commercial club.
“Those are difficult choices for a coach. He should choose a football club, not a commercial club.”
