And the 52-year-old is claimed to have insisted on having full control over club transfers in meetings with United chiefs.

One of his first pieces of business could be signing Ajax’s samba star Antony.

SunSport exclusively revealed yesterday that Ten Hag is lining up a bid worth upwards of £50million for the 22-year-old Brazilian winger.

He would be likely to slot straight in on the right flank ahead of Marcus Rashford, who is set to stay at Manchester United despite the exit rumours in recent weeks.

Elsewhere current interim manager Ralf Rangick revealed he has already sent a list of transfer targets to the United board in anticipation of a busy summer of dealings.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at the club remains uncertain if Champions League qualification is not secured.

And if the superstar forward does leave, prolific Benfica striker Darwin Nunez has been linked as a possible replacement.

The 22-year-old sparked excitement about a potential move by labelling current Red Devil Edinson Cavani as his “idol”.

Additions in central midfield are also expected, with Paul Pogba’s Old Trafford contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Alongside Antony, Wolves playmaker Ruben Neves has been earmarked as one of Ten Hag’s top targets for the upcoming transfer window.

Elsewhere United have been tipped to seal a shock transfer for Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite.

Raphael Varane has endured a hit-and-miss first season at the club, and his persistent injury problems could see him usurped by 19-year-old Branthwaite.

Another name on United’s radar is RB Leipzig hotshot Christopher Nkunku.

The attacking midfielder is a favourite of Rangnick, who would love to bring him to Old Trafford in the summer.

But any bid for the 24-year-old, who has scored 30 goals this term, would need to be upwards of £55m.
