Chelsea blow with Marina Granovskaia set to quit at end of transfer window and Andrea Berta favourite to replace her

CHELSEA director Marina Granovskaia is set to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the summer transfer window, according to reports.

Granovskaia, who is also one of Roman Abramovic’s closest advisors, became a club representative in 2010 before joining the board in 2013.

The following year she was promoted to chief executive and since then she has been highly regarded as one of the best club directors in world football.

She was expected to remain at Chelsea following Todd Boehly’s £4.25billion takeover.

But according to German news outlet Bild, Granovskaia will leave the club at the end of August after overseeing the upcoming transfer window.

The Blues have already targeted Atletico Madrid sporting director Andrea Berta as her replacement, it’s claimed.

Berta has held his current position since 2017 and in recent years has overseen the arrivals of Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann, Joao Felix and Kieran Trippier among many others.

He will also have dealt directly with Chelsea in the past, with Diego Costa, Alvaro Morata and Saul having swapped between clubs under his tenure.

Thomas Tuchel and his staff are expected to be handed £200million to spend on transfers this summer.

They have already started compiling a list of potential targets, and Achraf Hakimi is said to be at the top.

Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde could also make a move to Stamford Bridge, however, the Blues face stiff competition from Barcelona.

Chelsea are expected to prioritise defensive additions over the next few months, with Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen set to leave.

The futures of Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso are also uncertain.

Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku has been linked with a sensational return to Inter Milan, with Lautaro Martinez possibly heading the other way.
