European big boys AC Milan are said to be keen on landing the midfielder, although it’s claimed the Italians are currently behind Arsenal in the race for his signature.

That’s according to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, who claim negotiations over a shock move to the Emirates are underway.

Asensio, however, is reportedly intrigued by the idea of playing in Milan.

It’s claimed the prospect of playing for the Rossoneri “fascinates” the Spain international.

Real are said to want to tie Asensio down to a new deal but have reportedly threatened to sell him in the summer if he doesn’t extend his Bernabeu stay.

Asensio has been in fine form this season, scoring ten goals and providing one assist in 36 appearances in all competitions.

The 26-year-old appears to have finally recaptured the form he had before he suffered an ACL injury that ruled him out for the duration of the 2019/20 season.

Los Blancos chief Carlo Ancelotti recently said of the winger: “Asensio has great quality.

‘I don’t know what’s gonna happen with his future – although he is talking to the club to discuss the contract.”

“He’s always helping the team.”

Asensio recently said of his return to form: “No, I didn’t plan to leave.

“The year of the injury was complicated and it’s not easy to recover the tone, but I knew that I could reach my potential.

“I had various conversations with the boss and he transmitted confidence in me – also, one has to show it on the field.
