Coronation Street fans spot ‘really annoying’ format change

DRAMA is picking up a pace this week in Weatherfield as teased by jaw-dropping flash-forward scenes last night.

However, the format change failed to get a full stamp of approval from Coronation Street viewers, who didn’t see the point in them.

What’s in store for the cobbles?

As Abi Webster (portrayed by Sally Carman) and Imran Habeeb’s (Charlie De Melo) fight for Alfie’s custody comes to a head, Corrie bosses have teased car crash horror in the Street in an explosive trailer.

Last night’s instalment of the long-running ITV soap kicked off with dramatic flash-forward scenes, hinting that chaos lies ahead as police swarmed over to Weatherfield and the solicitor gave a powerful speech in his car.

But while the scenes were nothing short of heart-stopping, many viewers were still confused by them as mentioned on Twitter.

One viewer claimed that the scenes teased all that was to be expected in the next few instalments, writing: “Not much point watching Corrie this week as they have just shown what is going to happen. Really annoying.”

Another complained: “I think Corrie just broke a 62 year old tradition by showing scenes out of order via a flash forward. What was the point?”

“Flashforward. Incidental music. Sound effects . Wonky camerawork. Do not want any of this”, a third fan fumed.

Although some echoed each other’s concerns, others thoroughly enjoyed Corrie’s suspense-packed scenes.

“Now that’s how you do a flash forward Emmerdale”, one viewer commented in reference to the Yorkshire-based soap’s own recent flash-forwards, adding: “so excited to see the rest of this week’s episodes.”

“Wow, that flash forward at the beginning. Corrie is not messing around this week, at the edge of my seat indeed”, another penned.

A third chimed in: “Corrie is not messing around with this dramatic flash forward.”

The scenes have also made it clear that Abi and her husband Kevin Webster could be in trouble with the law as they were seen interrogated by police.

Everything you need to know about Coronation Street

Truths are about to be unravelled in this week’s Coronation Street episodes as Imran is called out by Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) for his recent underhanded behaviour.

And as she plans her escape from Weatherfield, Abi is unaware the solicitor is willing to risk everything to get back on the honourable path.
