Get excited, because Disney has dropped the trailer for Pinocchio.
Starring the likes of Tom Hanks stars as Geppetto, the Robert Zemeckis directed project is sure to tug on the heart strings when it hits screens later this year.
Pinocchio has always been a Disney fave, telling the story of a marionette who must earn the right to become a real boy by proving to be truthful, brave and selfless.
If the first trailer is anything to go by, the iconic fairytale will only become all the more magical when the animation is brought to life.
The wooden puppet was originally played by American child actor Dick Jones back in 1940, while Geppetto was voiced by Austrian-born actor Christian Rub
Taking on the role of the living toy in the flick is 13-year-old Benjamin Evan Ainsworth – who has starred in Emmerdale – while Tom plays his puppet-making father, who creates Pinocchio from a block of wood.
Pinocchio is carved with so much attention and love, that he eventually comes to life after the father’s wish upon a star, and it’s all thanks to the benevolent Blue Fairy, played by none other than Cynthia Erivo.
From watching the initial teaser, we get the impression that the film will focus on Jiminy Cricket (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) as he encounters characters like Sofia the Seagull (Lorraine Bracco) and slick-talking fox, John Worthington Foulfellow (Keegan-Michael Key).
The animation in the remake of the 1940 classic looks incredibly realistic, and fans have already been sharing their views on the trailer alone.

Not only that, but lines from the original are repeated in the new film: ‘Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight,’ says the live-action Geppetto, with a new version of When You Wish Upon A Star recorded especially for the soundtrack.
Dropping the teaser and announcing the release date, Disney tweeted: ‘When you wish upon a star… Watch the trailer for the all-new live action #Pinocchio and stream the movie, a #DisneyPlusDay premiere, September 8 on @DisneyPlus’.
The comments section was filled with people saying Pinocchio ‘deserved’ a remake, with one person writing: ‘Omg I seriously can’t wait. This looks like it’s gonna be amazing.’

‘I’m so excited for this the cast look amazing Pinocchio is my childhood fave film,’ tweeted one.
‘The DETAILS’, another person pointed out, although some are confused as to why the characters look super ‘life like’.
Others were wondering how much the puppet himself will actually feature in the final cut, as ‘he only appeared for 3 seconds’ in the first trailer.
Time will tell how Pinocchio will be received, but we’ll be right there with our popcorn when it hits the Disney streaming service in September.

We’re also optimistic that director Robert will deliver the goods, since his CV is already bursting with major titles.
He’s worked with a bunch of famous faces in the past and has credits on Forrest Gump, The Polar Express, Cast Away and The Witches.
The upcoming film was also written by Chris Weitz, who penned the screenplay for Disney’s 2015 live-action Cinderella remake.
Will you be reliving your childhood by watching the remake of the 19th century Italian children’s book, which became a classic following its first release?
Pinocchio lands on Disney Plus on September 8.
